ETHAN BOND-WATTS

SCULPTURE + 3D

ARTIST BIO

Ethan Bond-Watts creates contemporary glass with a timeless aesthetic.

Having fallen in love with glass at the age of 14, Bond-Watts was trained in the classical Italian tradition through an apprenticeship with American Studio Glass movement maestro Alan Goldfarb.  During his apprenticeship, Bond-Watts made a pilgrimage to the furnaces of Murano, Venice, to explore the primary sources of his craft. Feeling the responsibility to carry forward his movement’s torch, his finished bodies of work tip a hat to diverse artistic traditions from around the world. His technical mastery and historical rootedness come together with beautiful, exceptionally well made objects known for their clean lines, and careful details.

While actively moving culture forward with his classical glass, Bond-Watts also engages in the long arc of art and design through his conceptual projects, using mixed media sculpture as an opportunity to engage in current discourse.
