PAINTING + MIXED MEDIA
Galen Cheney has been painting professionally for nearly 30 years. She received her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and her M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute, College of Art where she studied with Salvatore Scarpitta, Hermine Ford, and Grace Hartigan, among others. Her work has been exhibited and is in collections across the U.S., in Europe, Canada, and China.
Recognition for her work includes an exhibition award at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, residency fellowships to The Millay Colony, the Vermont Studio Center, and Da Wang Culture Highland in Shenzhen, China, publication in New American Paintings, and a recent nomination for a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant for Painting.
She currently lives in North Adams, Massachusetts.
