The rugged mountain scenery is lending itself well to my energetic muscular application of paint with the palette knife. I feel I am in my element, describing Big Sky and open space in VT. Heavily textured old barns with weathered wood have been a natural attraction for me since boyhood roaming the fields and farms within arm’s reach growing up in Upstate New York. Parallel with Edward Hopper, I feel a tremendous affinity to solitary buildings set in Nature, stoic and resolute, independent, whether now abandoned or still in full use and usefulness, and conveying that response through paint.
