“My art is really just about exploration and experimentation.” says painter Homer Wells. Homer creates his compositions on recycled metal. He begins his work with a series of tools to grind away at his alloy canvas. After the new designs are ingrained into the aluminum, translucent paints are used to capture light and enhance its reflections. Homer’s collection comes to life as his audience moves across each piece. This makes it appear as if the clouds and water in his paintings are steadily moving across the panel caused by the reflection and refraction of light. He has created displays for companies such as Burton, Converse and Merrill and his work has been featured at The Burning Man Festival.
Join us from 5-7pm this Thursday, August 4th for Homer’s Opening Reception. Light refreshments will be served and some of our neighboring businesses in Frog Hollow will be offering extended hours and store specials as a part of “Art & the Alley.” Come by to enjoy our very own Isabel Lower and her dad, Fred, as they serenade us on the patio. Hope to see you there!
