Artist talk given by Betsy Silverman – Works in Collage

Followed by Dinner at the Inn

This is collage as you’ve never seen it! Using recycled magazine pieces Boston artist Betsy Silverman creates highly detailed compositions of city scenes, rural landscapes, people, animals or everyday objects.

She writes of her chosen medium, “Instead of paint tubes, my palette is a cabinet loaded with magazines.”

On the evening of the 22nd we will preview a collection of new work from Silverman and she will give an artist talk and presentation that will focus on the development of her representational style, drawing on architectural and environmental concerns as well as influences. The artist will discuss themes and the challenges of working with recycled magazines as a medium as well as how she seeks to exploit the unique qualities of the material. Guests will learn about her  process and technique, including representation of surfaces and reflections.

The evening will include dinner at the inn following the talk.
