I’ve lived in New England all of my life. Its ever-changing landscape feeds my soul and my art.
My landscapes have always been celebrations of color. My recent work in encaustic (hot beeswax) painting has let me add more depth and texture to my work. I love the slow and contemplative processes of waiting for the wax to melt, mixing in the pigments, layering on the wax paint, fusing the surface with a blowtorch, and then carving into and scraping away the wax. Because encaustics is a very tactile medium, I use pottery tools to create texture and patterns in my paintings, bringing me back full circle to my favorite childhood pastime of throwing pottery on a wheel.
I live in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. My art has been featured in The Boston Globe, Art New England, and Maine Home + Design.
