Rory Jackson’s solo exhibition “Pools of Reverence” traces the artist’s journey back to the woods and waterways of his home in Lincoln Vermont where he finds his roots, his inspiration, and his sense of awe for the landscape of this region. As the warm summer months unfold, the forest floor comes alive with new growth. The trees provide a richly colored canopy of shade while the rivers flow in support of the cyclical life of creatures and plantlife that inhabit them.
The time that Jackson spends in the woods is time spent in meditation. It is a time to pay homage to the natural world; its rhythms, rich palettes, and shifting light and shadow. It is where he feels connected and centered. The collection of paintings that have evolved from this place of sanctuary emanate with the emotion that the artist feels for the landscape. This is his home and his place of belonging.

“This series is inspired by the stretch of water running off the mountains of Lincoln, my hometown in Vermont. The river is sacred to me, a grounding force that I visit daily in the summer months. The variation of light and color through the seasons is a true joy to observe. As in most translations with the brush, it’s nearly impossible to capture the magic of the natural world, yet it is worth the attempt to remind the viewer of what we have been given to hold in reverence.” – Rory Jackson
