Our 2021 exhibition season begins this month with new work from new Edgewater artist, Charlie Bluett. The gallery is transformed with this collection of large scale abstract paintings that feature cascading, overlapping forms and colors that shift in different planes and suggest magnified versions of some of the smaller processes of the natural world like the effect of flowing water in a riverbed. Bluett is inspired by the ebb and flow of the natural world and uses this as his starting point. From there, in his studio, the work unfolds through the exploration of shape, color, texture and positive and negative space. The finished work combines elements that are subtle and understated with accents that are bold and dynamic.

Charlie Bluett has his studio in the Northeast Kingdom, Vermont. He was born in the UK, educated at Eton College and has exhibited extensively in the United Kingdom and the US. Bluett’s work is held in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally.
