In “Be Still” Vermont painter Rory Jackson’s latest collection of landscapes for Edgewater, the artist  invites us to pause, take a deep breath and appreciate the nuanced beauty of the skies that frame the rural landscape of our state. Rory Jackson is known for his sweeping compositions that capture the layered complexity of the land, the changing light and textures of the seasons and the drama of the cloudscapes that expand our views. This latest body of work evolves from years of studying the subtle differences in the skies as the day progresses, the weather turns and the seasons change. The artist’s reverence and awe for his subject emanates from each painting.

“In my view the most inspiring aspect of the landscape in Vermont is the form and illumination of light in the clouds. Be still is a collection of paintings that focus on the time when we must quiet our minds, stop our overbooked lives and admire the majesty of our clouds.”

Rory Jackson has his studio in Bristol Vermont. He developed his painting at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, The Art Students League of New York and with mentor Max Ginesburg in Long Island, NY. Jackson splits his time between his home in Lincoln Vermont and Ghana where he founded the non-profit school Trinity Yard. He paints the contrasting landscapes of each of these “places of belonging”.

Rory Jackson exhibits nationally and his work is held in both private and corporate collections.
